About The Nurtury Montessori

At The Nurtury Montessori, we are a close-knit, family-owned Montessori school serving children aged 6 weeks to 6 years across Westchester County, with locations in New Rochelle, Larchmont, and Rye Brook. Since 2007, we’ve been providing full-day, authentic Montessori education that nurtures children’s independence, curiosity, and confidence.

Our facilities include beautifully prepared classrooms, specialized Nido Rooms for infants, child-sized furniture, engaging outdoor play areas, and enrichment opportunities in art, music, and cultural studies.

Our team of Montessori-trained educators works together to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn at their own pace.

Assistant Teacher

The Teaching Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in creating and maintaining a peaceful, engaging Montessori classroom environment. The Assistant helps prepare the learning environment, supports the daily rhythm of the class, and models grace, courtesy, and respect for each child. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education, loves working with children, and wishes to grow within the Montessori philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining an orderly, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.

- Prepare Montessori materials and classroom activities as directed by the Lead Teacher.

- Observe children and assist in maintaining records of progress and daily routines.

- Protect each child’s concentration and independence by using gentle, respectful guidance.

- Model positive social behaviors, language, and problem-solving skills consistent with Montessori practices.

- Assist with diapering, toileting, and self-care routines in accordance with classroom age levels.

- Supervise children indoors and outdoors, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere.

- Communicate professionally and warmly with parents, staff, and administrators.

- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required annual training (minimum of 15 hours per year).

- Uphold The Nurtury’s values of respect, patience, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

Qualifications & Skills

- Minimum 18 years of age.

- Prior experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting preferred.

- Genuine interest in pursuing a career in Early Childhood Education or Montessori teaching.

- Positive attitude, reliability, and a collaborative spirit.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from the Lead Teacher.

- Montessori experience or training is a plus (not required—training opportunities available).
